Friday, 2nd May 2025
Bury Grammar School
The evening will begin from 6.30pm in the Old Boys’ Club Room, overlooking the cricket field, followed by dinner at 7.45pm in the Main Hall, Senior Boys' Campus.
Our guest speaker is Philip Hateley (Class of 1990). Philip joined the RAF Regiment in 1994 after graduating in Modern Languages from Bradford University. Since then, he has served in a variety of operational and staff roles in the UK and overseas. Towards the end of the Troubles he was based in Northern Ireland for a year, and he has deployed to the Middle East on several occasions, the first time in the aftermath of the attacks of 11 September 2001. He commanded The Queen’s Colour Squadron, conducting ceremonial duties for the RAF, and deployed with the squadron to Afghanistan, providing the defence of Kandahar Airfield. He has worked in a NATO headquarters in the Netherlands, on exchange with the German Air Force and spent a year at the Spanish Military Academy in Madrid. He is currently based at the RAF’s headquarters at RAF High Wycombe.
The Toast to the School will be proposed by Ted Edmondson (Class of 1994), and the response will be by Rob Lees, Senior Deputy Head Enrichment and Partnerships.
The cost of the Dinner is £39.50, and for those in full time education a discounted price of £32.00 is available.
