Congratulations to Old Boy Andy Higginson (Class of 1975), who took over as the new Chairman of JD Sports in July 2022.

Andy is a business executive with over forty years’ experience, with thirty plus years in senior executive and main board roles in FMCG and Retail.

After his time at BGS, Andy studied Town Planning at the City of Birmingham Polytechnic before embarking on a career in Finance. He qualified as an accountant before becoming a Finance Director in the Retail sector, most notably spending fifteen years as an Executive Director of Tesco plc before swapping a full-time executive career for a portfolio of non-executive and consultancy roles including Chairman of Morrisons Supermarkets and the N Brown Group, and Non-Executive Director of the Rugby Football Union.
