Having started University at Nottingham Trent in 2020, Ben made the most of Covid socialising restrictions by buckling down to work. It was only by the third year of BAHons that university life started to look anything like a normal experience. Ben achieved a 2:1 but felt like there was still more to learn and more challenges to be faced.
Not ready to give up the university experience Ben accepted an unconditional offer to embark on an MA in Graphic Communication in September 2023. He has thoroughly enjoyed the experience and describes it as "the most demanding educational experience he has ever had", finally feeling stretched to strive for the best grade he could achieve. Committed effort and dedication finally paid off with his thoroughly deserved Distinction in all modules undertaken. This fantastic achievement also placed Ben top of his class as confirmed to him by his tutors at graduation recently!
Ben is well remembered at BGS, not least for his design work on the 450th celebratory stained glass window that is still proudly displayed in the School Library.
School ran a whole school design challenge for the window, so every pupil in the School had an opportunity to contribute their ideas, from this Ben and one other pupil sifted through the hundreds of entries and used these to formulate their design ideas. They then put together an original design for the stained glass window and spent time refining the ideas into a contemporary design that visually represented the traditions of the School. The final piece is beautiful and will be enjoyed for years to come.
Our congratulations go to Ben and we look forward to following your future career!
