Phillippa studied Broadcast Journalism at the University of Gloucestershire before beginning her career in television, working on programmes such as Countdown and University Challenge. She secured her first job by doing work experience for free to build up her CV, until one day her boss agreed to pay her! She was awarded her first on-air role at the BBC, working as a reporter and presenter in the Channel Islands. From there, Phillippa moved to BBC World Service Radio in London, where she specialised in youth news and presented the half-hourly news podcast, BBC Minute. Phillippa is now based back in the North West, and runs a podcast production company creating a suite of award-winning shows for media brands, organisations and individuals. http://ogpodcasts.co.uk The company is currently working with the TikTok star Dr Karne and New Scientist Magazine.
We asked Phillippa what was the best thing she learnt at BGS, she told us - 'The best thing I got from BGS was girl power! There is enough room for all of us women to shine together and I credit my time surrounded by amazing, strong women at BGS for this mindset which I have carried through my career. Now I'm raising two daughters, it feels more important than ever'.
