We are delighted to announce that Emilie Hutton is the first ever winner of the Anne Ward Prize. Emilie has been awarded a place at Cambridge University to study Classics, a course which involves exploring the ancient world and the study of classical histories.
The Anne Ward prize is given in memory of Anne Ward by BGS alumna Judith Higgin, Anne's god daughter and the daughter of Jean Higgin, nee Wilkinson, whose friendship with Anne lasted more than 75 years until Anne's death, aged 88, in May 2025.
The prize is designed to support students as they move to University and to help with the cost of books and study materials.
