In Memoriam |
It is with sadness that we announce the death of Elizabeth Anne Pittam who died at home on 29th December 2022, aged 83, after a short illness.
Born in Wednesbury, Elizabeth attended Bilston High School for Girls where she was Head Girl. She went on to study English, History and Music at Cardiff University and took her Diploma of Education at Westminster College Oxford. Her first teaching appointment was at the Queen Elizabeth Grammar School in Middleton and then in 1964 she took up a position teaching English at Bury Grammar School for Girls. In 1967 Elizabeth left to have a family, returning to teach in the Boys’ Junior School in 1976. Elizabeth taught a Year 4 class until she retired in 1999.
Elizabeth is survived by her husband Malcolm, children Helen and Stephen and four grandchildren. A local preacher in the Methodist Church, a keen gardener and lover of music and singing, Elizabeth will be greatly missed by family and the many who knew and loved her.
Congratulations to Old Girl, Jane Power, on becoming the 100th President of the IRSE! More...
