We are saddened to share the news that Old Boy, Major (Rtd) Stephen Douthwaite (26 May 1952), has passed away.

Stephen had a longstanding connection with Bury Grammar School. He was married to Old Girl Jeanette Douthwaite (née Pugh, Class of 1974), and their two sons were also educated at BGS, making the family's ties to the School particularly strong.

We extend our sincere condolences to Jeanette and all of Stephen's family and friends. He will be fondly remembered by those who knew him.

There will be a funeral service held at St Anne's Church, Tottington at 10am on Monday 10th August.
