We say farewell and thank you to Mr Robert Rylance
After 34 years in Bury Grammar School CCF, we say goodbye to Bob Rylance. He was appointed Contingent Commander of the CCF in 1989, a position he held until 2008. Since then, Bob has been the CCF’s SSI (Senior Staff Instructor) and has been integral to the CCF’s continued success. As SSI, he was responsible for all administration, uniform and kit and has organised many Camps and Founders’ Days that will long be remembered. We will certainly miss his impressive, booming voice at the Founders’ Day parade in future years! Bob is planning to move to the coast for his well-earned retirement, however we hope he will return to visit us regularly. We would like to thank Bob for all he has done for the CCF and Bury Grammar School as a whole. We will miss you!
New Contingent Commander for BGS
We are very pleased to share the news with you that Mrs Grace Mehta will take over as Contingent Commander for BGS in September 2023, as Mr Newbury concentrates on his new role of Director of Development.
We thank Mr Newbury for his dedication to this role over the last 15 years, growing the contingent from 60 cadets to over 200 and know he will continue to follow our School’s CCF successes!
The core purpose of the Contingent Commander is to manage and develop the School’s CCF; assisting with the running and organisation of the Contingent and to participate in CCF activities, whilst providing overall assurance on Cadet Activities in line with MOD Policies.
Congratulations to Mrs Grace Mehta!
