Artsmark Gold Award

We are delighted to announce that Bury Grammar School (BGS) has been awarded the Gold Artsmark award!

Here at Bury Grammar School, we ensure that all pupils and students can be creative and have access to a diverse range of high-quality cultural opportunities, from our star quality annual performances to our inspiring art exhibitions, the arts and culture are an integral part of a Bury Grammar School education.

The Artsmark Award, accredited by Arts Council England, is the only creative quality standard for schools and educational settings in the UK. It is designed to help schools embed arts, culture, and creativity across their whole curriculum, celebrating a commitment to a well-rounded cultural education.

Schools can be awarded Silver, Gold, or Platinum Artsmark, based on their achievements. The prestigious Gold award recognises our school's commitment to providing a high-quality arts education for all pupils. It also recognises the excellence of our arts provision, including the range of arts activities offered, the quality of teaching and learning, and the impact of the arts on the lives of our pupils.

To achieve Gold Artsmark, our school underwent a rigorous assessment process, to demonstrate where we embed arts, culture, and creativity across the school. The Artsmark Assessors were particularly impressed by The School's broad and balanced arts curriculum, extensive extra-curricular arts provision, collaboration with other subjects on cross curricular events and our commitment to arts partnerships with external organisations.

Head of Faculty, Creative and Performing Arts, Mrs Kershaw said,

The Gold Artsmark award is a testament to the engagement of our pupils in the vast opportunities provided and the hard work and dedication of the School's staff, as well as the commitment of the School's Leadership Team to providing a well-rounded education for all pupils. It is also a recognition of the School's vibrant and supportive arts community.

What does the Gold Artsmark award mean for pupils at Bury Grammar School?

The Gold Artsmark award means that pupils at Bury Grammar School have access to a high-quality arts education that will help them to develop their creativity, imagination, and problem-solving skills. The School's arts provision is designed to inspire and challenge all pupils and students, providing opportunities for them to lead, take part in and flourish in their chosen creative endeavours.

Coming up this year!

BGS pupils have a vast range of exciting opportunities available for them to take part in, including the Geography Photography competitions, Orchestra Day, Bronze Arts Award, Art Leaders, the School Production – Addams Family, a range of Art, Drama and Music Clubs, as well as Religious Studies and Art Spirited away competition, The Big Draw and many more!

Congratulations to the whole team!!
