The cast of this year’s Bury Grammar School production, The Addams Family, certainly captivated audiences with their spellbinding, sell-out performances.
Exceptionally talented performers from both our Senior School and Sixth Form took to the Bury Grammar Stage bringing ‘The Addams Family’ to life in a truly spooktacular extravaganza of talent and ghoulishly delightful performances!
The Addams Family musical follows the family as Wednesday Addams, the ultimate Princess of Darkness, has grown up and has a shocking secret that only Gomez knows. She's fallen in love with a sweet young man from a respectable family. With his cherished Morticia in the dark, Gomez attempts to keep his daughter’s secret until the two families meet for a fateful dinner with hilarious consequences.
Every character was portrayed with unwavering confidence and true professionalism. Gomez (Lucas, Year 11) and Morticia (Amélie, Year 13 & Abigail, Year 12) were fabulous as heads of the family, delivering captivating musical performances and stunning characterisation. From Uncle Fester’s (Ewan, Year 12 & Will, Year 12) comedic numbers to Wednesday (Isabella, Year 13 & Scarlett, Year 11) and Lucas’ (Rocco, Year 11) quirky charm, every single character shone brightly!
The Addams Family also saw the highly anticipated return of our live Orchestra, a much-loved part of our school productions over the years. Conducted by Miss Downing, Director of Music (Academic), our talented musicians performed the score with flare, and precision to create a true feast for the ears.
The ensemble brought the stage to life with catchy and memorable numbers, such as ‘When you’re an Addams’ and ‘Full Disclosure.’ Each and every one of the chorus members should be proud of the part they played in bringing this incredible production to our stage.
Behind every school production is a dedicated production team working incredibly hard behind the scenes. Thank you to the teachers who worked tirelessly sourcing costumes, helping with hair and makeup, and supporting pupils in producing this incredible production and thank you to every pupil who worked behind the scenes to ensure the show ran smoothly.
We are incredibly thrilled by the high-quality productions we produce here at Bury Grammar School and they are always a highlight of our school year. Our talented pupils always make us very proud, and this year has been no exception.
As the curtains close on the Addams Family, we would like to thank the entire cast, production crew and teachers for making The Addams Family a show to remember!
