We were delighted this week to welcome old boy Simon Johnson (class of 1985) to speak to the school as part of the prestigious Roger Kay Lecture series. The hall was packed with students and Simon delivered a fascinating lecture on his career with helpful and relevant advice for our current students. Simon spoke about the role of the Chairman of the Board and what is involved, calling on his considerable experience at ITV, the Premier League, the Football Association and the Rugby Football League. He encouraged students to be resilient, especially in the face of criticism and stressed the importance of never regretting decisions you have made but instead turning them around to your benefit. Simon discussed the many strands of his successful career and the importance of integrity and hard work. He advised students to be adaptable and to do what they love. At the end of the talk there was an opportunity for students to ask questions, and Simon was interviewed for an article in the Clavian. We are most grateful to Simon for sharing his experience with us and for his support of the school.
