Old Boys' Association Dinners 2023

For the first time in my 15 years at Bury Grammar School, I had the privilege of speaking at both the Bury and London Old Boys' Dinners. Both events were very well attended, and I would personally like to thank Guest of Honour, Peter Brathwaite (Class 2002) for his particularly inspirational after dinner speech. Peter spoke warmly about his memories at BGS and how welcomed he felt at School. As I sat and reflected at both dinners, I looked around the room at the smiling and laughing faces and realised that regardless of age, you can always spot an Old Clavian: confident and articulate, yet humble, friendly, and open. The warm atmosphere this creates is infectious.

The Old Boys’ Association have also generously pledged those funds made from the dinner to the School's Bursary Fund, in recognition of the School's founding principles.  I would like to thank Steve Crompton and Bill Ullathorne, and of course Sharon and Hannah, for all the hard work that was put into these two fantastic events.

I look forward to seeing even more of you at next year's dinner.
