My journey in psychology and mental health began right here in the familiar halls of Bury Grammar Sixth Form. The strong sense of community and the dedication of the staff provided the perfect foundation, and I'm incredibly grateful for the preparation they gave me for university life. I sincerely miss the supportive environment and the camaraderie of the Bury Grammar community.
Upon leaving, I embarked on the next chapter, heading to the University of Liverpool to pursue an undergraduate degree in Psychology. My undergraduate studies were both challenging and fascinating, covering core areas such as Cognitive Psychology, Biological Psychology, and Developmental Psychology, which solidified my interest in the human mind and behaviour.
My passion for the application of psychology led me to continue my studies at the University of Liverpool, where I completed a Master's degree in Investigative and Forensic Psychology. This advanced program allowed me to delve into specialized topics, with modules focusing on Eyewitness Testimony, Offender Profiling, and the Psychology of Violent Crime, giving me valuable insights into the criminal justice system.
Today, I am applying this knowledge directly in a frontline role as a Crisis and Recovery Support Worker in an out-of-house mental health unit. This demanding yet rewarding position involves providing essential support to individuals experiencing acute mental health crises, focusing on recovery and stability. This work has been instrumental in further developing my empathy, crisis management skills, and ability to work under pressure.
Looking ahead, my ultimate goal is to transition into law enforcement and become a Detective. My academic background in investigative and forensic psychology, combined with my practical experience in crisis support, provides a unique and robust skillset that I hope will serve me well in a policing career dedicated to investigation and public safety.
I would like to extend my deepest thanks to the staff and community at Bury Grammar Sixth Form for their unwavering support and exceptional teaching. You truly prepared me for the successful academic and professional steps I have taken.
