It has been wonderful to hear about Old Boy David Stott’s recent adventures, David pictured above on the right has recently been in Tweed Heads, Australia, managing the England Team at the IBBA World Blind Bowls Championships, where the team won one gold medal and four bronze, a fantastic achievement.
After BGS, David went on to study at Welbeck College, and then, after deciding that the military hadn’t worked out as he hoped, David returned to 'civvy street'. He trained at City of Leeds and Carnegie College as a Geography, PE, and CDTE teacher and worked in the Leeds area.
David then moved back to his native Lancashire and taught in Oldham before moving on again to Bristol, working in a unit for Permanently Excluded 15 to 16-year-olds. Following a local government re-organisation, David moved to South Gloucestershire where he had several roles - including Deputy Head of Central Teaching Services.
It was then during retirement that David became involved with lawn bowls and had success as Club Champion outdoors on four occasions and indoors three times. In 2012 he began his involvement with bowls for the visually impaired and became National Team Manager for Visually Impaired Bowls England in 2014.
